Kate and Gracie’s Restaurant
Alma, Wisconsin

A Main Street historic storefront building in Alma, Wisconsin experienced dramatic change of its ground floor space, becoming Kate and Gracie’s  Restaurant. Design for Preservation and Karen Gjerstad, Architect, melded smooth interior lines that defined dining spaces, with wavy overhead shapes that recall nearby waves of the Mississippi River and the rolling bluffs outlining the river valley. At one end of the room, a well-crafted  bar uses traditional details contrasting the dining room’s lively modernity. An outdoor trellis-shaded patio serves guests in warm weather.

In collaboration with Karen Gjerstad, Architect.
